Woodward Markwell visit the East Anglian Air Ambulance Base
Woodward Markwell Managing Director David McGowan and General Insurance Manager Tom Hallatt recently went with both Jen’s mum and brother-in-law Peter to visit the East Anglian Air Ambulance base at Norwich Airport, to see the operation and meet to the team, including staff members that attended the tragic accident when we lost Jen last October.
David said of the visit “It was a very emotional day. Tom and myself started the day by picking up Jennifer’s mum Maria and her brother in law Peter to drive to the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) base at Norwich Airport. To say that the EAAA were accommodating was an understatement, we were so well looked after it was humbling for them to spend so much time with us as they are such busy and important people. We discussed with one of the critical care paramedics that attended Jennifer and Rhys’ crash how they assisted in saving Rhys’ life, this gave us some comfort from what was a devastating day for Jennifer’s family, friends and work colleagues. It costs £16m to run the excellent work that the EAAA do, I mentioned that it would take a lot of the £3,500 we raised on the Trek 24 walk to get to this amount. I was quickly stopped by Andy at the EAAA saying that our £3,500 was so important. Each mission costs around £3-3.5k to carry out and therefore the money we had raised had paid for a mission and therefore potentially saved someone’s life. What an inspiring thing to take away for me and all the team who have worked hard to raise this money (and of course our generous sponsors). It was a very emotional but equally inspiring day”.
